Decals are similar to stickers except they are adhered to a backing sheet with water soluble glue.
The sheet is immersed in water to loosen the printed and cut decal from the sheet enabling it to be applied to a clean surface. Decals are often used for vehicles, building signage and large format vinyl stickers. This was a popular method of production before digital printing became popular.
The word decal is often used instead of sticker but both can be use for a similar purpose. Decals can be applied to windows, cars, signs and many other surfaces.
